Anastasia Patsey is a graduate of the Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design (Saint Petersburg) and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences (Smolny College) of Saint Petersburg State University. Since 2010 she has been part of the team at Pushkinskaya10 Art Centre, organising exhibitions, educational programmes and international art projects.

Curator of more than thirty exhibitions of modern Russian and foreign artists, and an organiser of art festivals, Anastasia has worked with others to take art shows to different parts of the country. She is a co-founder and board member of the Paideia School of Interpretation of Contemporary Art for the artist and the viewer.

Since 2012 Anastasia has led the internationally renowned Saint Petersburg Artist-in-Residence programme and the 2,04 Gallery. In 2015, she was appointed Director of the Museum of Nonconformist Art (Saint Petersburg) and continues to work as a freelance art curator in Russia and abroad.

I am honoured to be a judge at the Side by Side Film Festival in this, its 10th anniversary year. Contemporary art has the important task of talking to its audience about current problems, to pose questions and give people the opportunity to speak openly. The art of the mobile image and of cinema offer a very powerful and eloquent language in this process.

My congratulations to the directors whose works are included in the festival programme. I wish all who attend the festival interesting viewing.
